It's been a while since I last loved a song so much that I'd even write a blog about it. Actually, I think I never wrote a blog about a song ever before so that shows you the intensity of all this.
Yesterday I was chatting with my girl while listening to MTV. They were playing the top 10 songs in Japan and when it came to number 6, they played "Kokoniiruyo (ここにいるよ)" by SoulJa. It was the first time I heard this and I fell in love with it almost instantaneously.
I bought it immediately from iTunes and listened to it, repeatedly, the whole morning on my way to work. I told my friend about it and he admits to loving the song as well and surprise surprise, it was actually a long-distance relationship song.
I liked the song even without paying much attention to the lyrics and when I listened to it more carefully, I fell in love with the song even more.
The lyrics match how I feel for my "Baby girl".

I'm having flashbacks, of the time our AOTS rep (what was his name again?) introduced us to Hikaru Utada's - First Kiss, with your post. :D
Oh.My.God.
I'm not sure how to take this side of Rico. This lovey-dovey side of you. Hahahaha. You are sooooo inlab.
I remember telling you like a year ago to write more personal blogs. Maybe I have to take it back. Haha.
aww.. how sweet ga.. :)
"ga" yung tawagan nyo. naaks naman! gaawas-awas ang hinigugmaay. ang sweeeeettt... oo nga jenny. dumadami na personal blogs. iva talaga ang inlove!!! yeeha!
It does sound good. I have a Japanese CD by Tomo Sakurai and the first song is my favourite. I don't understand the lyrics, but in a way it communicates to me the love felt by the persona.

it's a very nice song. but i'm quite surprised that it has rap .. but that's probably why you liked it first!
@hoop
si Mr. Fujimori! ^^
@Rico
LDR ba kayo? hihihi ^^
nice song, parang 'itsumo' of dice and k9, or actually any rap na may mellow chorus ^^
not updated with jpop anymore.
yung girl ba may filipino blood?
cant help but notice na Thelma yung name nya ^^
Thanks Sun Jun!
Now that you said his name, I'm also having flashbacks of Rico forgetting his Palm in the Shinkansen. And of him going back with Fujimori to pick it up at the lost and found... hahaha
@hoop: Wonderful days, those AOTS days. Funny how you still remembers that Palm incident. Haha.
@jenny, @meemax: Just warn me if you think my lovey-dovey side is starting to take over this blogsite. I'll try to keep this as well-rounded as possible. Boy Scout's promise.
@charlotte, @joy: I like how the romantic rap of SoulJa blends with the soothing and sexy voice of Thelma. In a way, it also follows the successful Dido-Eminem pattern used in the "Stan" song.
@sunjun: Thelma is I think part Trinidad and Tobaggon (?). I also thought she was Filipino because of the way she looks, the way she speaks English and the way she doesn't sing like those other Japanese singers.
@jani'e: Need I say more? :-)
pagka-sweet ba oi!
will listen to the song when i get home.
